
Born in southwest Texas in 1981, I enjoyed a well traveled youth. The community development work that my parents were involved in took me to places such as Chicago, Australia and Jamaica for years at a time. After settling (somewhat) in Toronto, I was enrolled in kindergarten at Williamson Road P.S. Later on I attended Glen Ames, the neighboring Junior High, after moving out of the beaches. For my High School years, I attended Danforth Collegiate. I have many active hobbies such as skateboarding, BMX/street/off road biking, R/C cars, woodworking and building miscellaneous gadgets.
As a child I experimented with music using a tiny Casio keyboard with an unorthodox pre-programmed rhythm/melody generator. The keyboard provided the rhythm, while I banged out tones on the keys. The music instruction that I received over the years, although relatively sporadic, covered a range of instruments such as contemporary keyboard, trumpet, and guitar, although I experimented with drums and other percussion at times. Through good friends over the years I was introduced to synthesizers and computer music software and hardware. In my late teens, he obtained a copy of sound edit 16 for mac and started creating music. Not long after that the name The Jungle Genius was created.
At the end of high school, I obtained a pc and started building a workstation of my own instead of taking up space on my parents' mac. At this point I had built up some skills in composition and mixing, and decided to branch out into spinning vinyl because it seemed the best way to be able to perform my music in the context of the genre.
